A new building of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Gdańsk, one of the latest didactic facilities in Poland, was officially opened on 25 November. It will be used for students of the University of Gdańsk being educated in a new field of studies – Computer Science with a practical profile. The general contractor, selected via a public tender, was the DORACO Construction Corporation.
The new building of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Gdańsk was erected within the project “Extension of the building of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science of the University of Gdańsk in Gdańsk for the needs of practical studies”. It is a five-storey building (one underground level and four above-ground storeys) with a usable area of about 3912 m2 and a cubic capacity of 22,678 m3. The facility is connected with the existing building of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science by a link at the level of the second and third storeys. The building includes, inter alia, seminar and computer rooms, auditoriums, didactic and research offices as well as office and amenity rooms. The didactic rooms were fitted with modern ICT equipment making it possible to educate new IT staff.
It is worth noting that thanks to superb cooperation with the Investor as well as the collaborative work of the construction team, the building of the Institute of Computer Science was completed by us almost one month before deadline.
