Using the garden with sensory elements has positive influence on sensory integration that allows single stimuli to be sorted, organized and combined into full brain functions. The balance of these functions enables motor skills of the body to adapt harmoniously to the environment, and the mind to assimilate information efficiently. Sensory integration has also positive influence on coordination of the body and may play a supportive role in rehabilitation of disabled people.

Korporacja Budowlana Doraco to Repair Szczecińskie Wharf in the Port of Gdańsk

According to the signed contract, work will be carried out this year to reinforce the bank in the final section 12f-14 of the Szczecińskie Wharf. This is another investment project of the Port of Gdańsk dedicated to the improvement of safety.

During the work that will start in July this year, the existing bank reinforcement will be reconstructed, while the waterside part of the quay will be dismounted and modernised, including its bank reinforcement, in line with the standard that is already fulfilled by adjacent sections. The contract worth PLN 1,369,499 will be performed for maximum 33 weeks. All work will be carried out near an operating water lane.

The investment project is another stage of the thorough modernization of the whole port infrastructure within the strategic plan implemented until 2027 as well as an important element of making port areas more visually attractive. All the projects, of the total value of PLN 700 million, are aimed at enhancing safety and competitiveness of the port.

The reconstruction of the Szczecin Quay is another investment project carried out by Korporacja Budowlana Doraco in the Port of Gdańsk. In previous years, Doraco modernised a section of the Szczecińskie Transhipment Quay in the area of the Gdańsk Container Terminal, the WOC quay (the work carried out in two stages), and constructed the Border Veterinary Control Station.

Doraco as Partner of VIVA OLIVA 2017

On Saturday, 10 June 2017, the main street of Oliwa, Opata Jacka Rybińskiego, turned into a promenade. It became the central point for most attractions as a part of the district festival – VIVA OLIVA! For the sixth time already, Fundacja Wspólnota Gdańska (Gdańsk Community Foundation), in cooperation with its partners – institutions, businesses, craftsmen, and restaurant owners from Oliwa, organised a number of attractions for the local community and guests, who came in crowds to celebrate together.

Artists performed on stage for the whole day, while a colourful procession made its way through the streets. The climax came with the Family Oliwian Photo taken by a popular photographer, Maciej Kosycarz. That event was initiated, for the second time, by Korporacja Budowlana Doraco.

Schools, crafts, restaurants, institutions and businesses, including DORACO, presented their offers on stands along the promenade. Our representatives offered a number of games that were to attract different senses (touch, taste, and smell), to invite guests to the garden with sensory elements, which is being constructed by Doraco in the area of Pomorska and Grunwaladzka streets. The opening is planned in July 2017.

Doraco Gardens Awarded in ‘Invest in Children’ Competition

We are delighted to announce another award received for the Christmas illumination in the Doraco gardens! The last year’s largest Advent calendar in Poland and the Christmas lighting in the gardens in Opacka street were recognised in the poll organised by the CzasDzieci.pl portal in the category ‘private investment’.

The purpose of the ranking was to award sites in Poland that became an ideal place for children owing to the well-though-out planning of space and the high quality of infrastructure. Such sites are safe and friendly for small hands and legs, stimulate activity and discovering new places, and can both entertain and educate.

You are welcome to the next edition of illumination on 6 December 2017.

Students of the Gdańsk University of Technology constructed a roof of the future together with Doraco

Working in six-man teams, on 4-5 April 2017, students of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology designed, constructed and carried out load-carrying capacity tests of hall roofs under the supervision of experts from Korporacja Budowlana Doraco. The project was carried out as part of IAESTE CaseWeek, i.e. nation-wide engineering workshops the purpose of which is to bring academic and business environments together and enable students of technical faculties to use their knowledge in practice.

As part of the project, the students designed and constructed 2×3 m models on their own. The models were exposed in the yard of the main building of the Gdańsk University of Technology.  The work carried out by the use of materials and tools provided by Doraco was planned for 16 hours and covered both the construction and tests of the roofing.
“The purpose of the project was to have students face a feasible engineering challenge in small teams from the beginning to the end within two days”, explains Bogusław Niklas from Doraco, a project tutor. “Hall roofing is a construction that is commonly used in civil engineering and, because of its size, it is more difficult than foundations or facades”.
On the second day of Doraco workshops, hall roofing constructed by the students were tested in terms of load carrying capacity. Apart from the maximum load, the chapter took into account construction bending, as well as economic aspects, i.e. material resources used for construction purposes. Installation time was also important because the students could obtain extra credits for preparing the construction before the regulation time. The greatest amount of credits was awarded to a group of students of the second year of Civil Engineering. All participants obtained gifts, and six winners were also awarded with paid traineeship in Doraco.
Thank you for your participation in our workshops and we congratulate all winners!

Doraco on an economic mission in Kazakhstan

At the end of March 2017, Korporacja Budowlana Doraco took part in an economic mission in Kazakhstan, which was organised  by the Polish Cluster of Construction Exporters in cooperation with and with support of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kazakhstan and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland.

The purpose of the economic mission was to identify opportunities for carrying out projects in Kazakhstan, as well as familiarising with local business activity requirements and conditions. At the same time, in Atyrau and Astana, the company discussed three selected projects and analysed opportunities for carrying out works at large construction sites in Kazakhstan.

The mission to Kazakhstan was the first targeted mission of the construction industry and is an outcome of a visit of the President of the Republic of Kazahstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in Poland and a visit of representatives of Korporacja Ubezpieczeń Kredytów Eksportowych and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego in Kazakhstan last year.
