The Engineering Job Fair took place at the Gdańsk University of Technology on 27–28 February 2019. DORACO Construction Corporation participated in the fair yet again, since it is an excellent opportunity to present an offer to potential future staff members. Whereas, students can ask various questions to representatives of enterprises taking part in the event.

66 exhibitors participated in the 10^th edition of the fair, and during 2 days of the event, the stands were visited by more than 10 thousand students.

We are pleased to announce that President Andżelika Cieślowska received this year’s Employers’ Award – Optimus 2018. Optimus is an award for the most deserving people for the development of Employers of the Republic of Poland. It may also be awarded to persons and institutions which, through their activities, have been instrumental in the development of entrepreneurship and improvement of business conditions in Poland.

Andżelika Cieślowska was awarded for: many years of effective work for the environment of entrepreneurs, for promoting the model of responsible business, for energy and willingness to share rich experience.

Eternum, a modern A+ class office building, is being built in Gdańsk in the Young Town area, close to the European Solidarity Centre. On 5 December 2018, on the construction site, with the participation of invited guests, the ceremonial signing of the foundation act and the laying of the foundation stone took place.

The investor for the facility is Eternum company belonging to RWS Investment Group, and the general contractor is DORACO Construction Corporation. The design of the building was created in the APA Wojciechowski design office in Warsaw. The style of the building’s interiors as well as of the façade will refer to the climate of the surroundings – post-shipyard areas.

The building will have 8 above-ground storeys and one underground storey. The total usable area will amount to nearly 7,000 square metres. On the ground floor of the building there will be commercial premises accessible directly from the street, and the remaining floors will be used for office space. The office building will be certified in the BREEAM system (best practice standard for sustainable design, construction and use of buildings) at a very good level.

The works are in progress. As Radosław Jarosiewicz, Vice President of the Management Board of DORACO, says:

– The first stage of the investment consisting in adaptation of the plot of land for the execution of construction works has been completed. Construction of the underground part of the building and the reinforced concrete ceiling above level 0 are finished. Work is currently underway at +1 level. Q1 of 2019 will see the commencement of: works on the facade of the building, installation works and finish works.

Completion of works and hand-over of the site for lessees’ use is planned for the third quarter of 2019.

Representatives of DORACO Construction Corporation and the faculties of Ocean Technology and Shipbuilding and Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology signed an agreement on 28 November this year on cooperation on the newly created faculty of inter-departmental graduate degree studies – Maritime and Coastal Engineering.

The new faculty is a response to the demand for a very intensively developing maritime economy and the shortage of specialists educated in this field on the labour market. It is also another alternative for first-degree graduates of the university of technology. Students will be provided with knowledge in the field of hydrotechnical structures design and construction.

– Studies in this new faculty are targeted at people with an entrepreneurial spirit, brave and open to difficult challenges in the engineering business related to the sea and inland waters. The acquisition of knowledge and skills within the framework of the new faculty’s curriculum will help to solve difficult and complex problems related to the design, construction and monitoring of hydrotechnical structures in inland, coastal and maritime areas. After gaining experience, the graduates will manage and supervise large hydrotechnical projects in Poland and abroad. Students educated in the new faculty will be continuators of the numerous generations of outstanding engineers of hydrotechnics educated at the Gdańsk University of Technology, who designed, rebuilt and extended our ports, shipyards and dams, weirs and other hydrotechnical structures – summarizes Ph.D. Eng. Associate Professor Janusz Kozak, Dean of the Faculty of Ocean Technology and Shipbuilding and Ph.D. Eng. Krzysztof Wilde, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environment.

DORACO Construction Corporation, which specializes in hydrotechnical construction, has become a partner of the Maritime and Coastal Engineering faculty.

– Hydrotechnology has always been close to us, we have staff with several decades of experience in this area. In the difficult period for the construction industry we focused on the development and expansion of engineering staff and hydrotechnical specialization. Hydrotechnical projects have naturally become our main area of business. Only this year we launched 5 more projects in Polish ports – says Andżelika Cieślowska, President of the Management Board of DORACO Construction Corporation.

As part of the cooperation, DORACO will support the Gdańsk University of Technology in the transfer of experience and practical knowledge from the implemented contracts, and DORACO experts will provide support to the mentors of the new faculty in the selection and elaboration of diploma theses and the implementation of team projects. The support will also concern scientific circle projects. In cooperation with the departments, the company’s employees will conduct regular lectures and seminars related to the subject matter of the faculty. Students will be able to count on an internship at hydrotechnical construction projects carried out by the company. Eventually, graduates will find employment in hydrotechnical projects carried out by the general contractor, depending on the current demand.

We are pleased to announce another award for Doraco Construction Corporation. DORACO received the prestigious title of BEST CONSTRUCTION COMPANY in the prestigious CIJ Awards 2018.

The CIJ Awards Poland 2018 gala took place on 6 November for the 17th time. It is a recognized and prestigious event on the Polish and European market of office, retail, industrial and residential real estate. It is also a celebration bringing together a large group of leading innovative and visionary companies, as well as the entire real estate trade.

The statuette was received on behalf of the company by President Andżelika Cieślowska. Thank you and congratulations to the other winners.

On Tuesday, 23 October 2018, the 5th Academic Job Fair took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Gdańsk. On that day students got acquainted with offers of several dozen employers, including DORACO.

– Even though DORACO is a general contractor, this does not mean that we only invest in engineers! During the fair we presented to the students the career paths at DORACO in departments such as: HR, legal or contracts. We would like to thank the students for their numerous questions and great commitment! – says Ilona Płoszyńska, HR Manager at DORACO

On Monday, 15 October, the ceremony of signing the foundation act and laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Gdańsk took place. DORACO Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the project.

The Institute will be a part of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Information Technology. The intelligent building will be enriched by IT and audio-video solutions. In modern rooms and laboratories, classes in the field of Practical Computer Science will be held. The project will also make it possible to renovate the existing Faculty building, one of the oldest on the campus.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the University of Gdańsk, headed by the Rector, Prof. Jerzy Gwizdała, PhD, as well as Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Government Wiesław Byczewski, Vice President of Gdańsk Wiesław Bielawski, Archbishop of Gdańsk Sławoj Leszek Głódź and deputies Henryka Krzywonos and Grzegorz Furgo. During the event, DORACO President of the Management Board – Andżelika Cieślowska told the guests about the course of construction works.

Completion of the project is scheduled for late 2019. The Institute of Information Technology will be the most modern building of the University of Gdańsk.

During this year’s Entrepreneurial Gdańsk gala, which took place on 8 October in Artus Court, DORACO President of the Board, Andżelika Cieślowska received the Centennial of Independence Medal. The award, on the anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence, was given to people whose actions have a positive impact on the city and its development. Among the distinguished were entrepreneurs, cultural activists and educators.

– Thank you for the award. This success is the result of the daily work and commitment of all DORACO employees. We are a company with Gdańsk roots, so we will continue to work with great joy for the development of the city – said Andżelika Cieślowska.
